American compositions include When Jesus Wept by William Billings from the Colonial era and At the Round Earth’s Imagined Corners by contemporary composer Williametta Spencer. June 2008
Theatre Harrisburg presents The Mikado

June 6-8, 11-15
7:30pm Wed-Thur; 8pm Fri-Sat; 2pm Sun
Sunoco Performance Theater
Tickets are $17-$32

Arguably the most popular of all the Gilbert & Sullivan comic operas, this story is set in the fantastical "Japanese" town of Titipu, where the much-feared Mikado of Japan has ruled it a crime to flirt in public. This hilarious and satirical piece of nonsense can be enjoyed by all ages. It contains many well-loved tunes such as Three Little Maids from School, The Flowers That Bloom in the Spring and Tit-Willow. Very English, very silly, and completely delightful.
